Prologue - Just Roommates
Leah Henderson was petite in every sense of the word. At twenty-four, she was slim, weighing just eighty-three pounds (83 lbs), and stood at five feet three inches (5’3”). She wasn’t as busty as her best friend, Mary Anna, but she wasn’t flat either—her curves were subtle but present.
Her eyes were a mesmerizing mix of blue and green, though the exact shade was hard to pin down. Were they bluish-green or greenish-blue? Cyanic or aqua? It depended on the day, but one thing was certain—they leaned more toward blue when she was moody. Large and round, her eyes were easily one of her most striking features.
With a heart-shaped face, ever-smiling lips, and a button nose, Leah had a beauty that turned heads. Though she sometimes envied her best friend’s curvier figure, she never felt ashamed of her own body. She wouldn’t flaunt it, but that didn’t stop her from admiring her reflection in the full-length mirror from time to time.
Her blonde hair was naturally curly, but for reasons only she knew, she disliked its wildness. She spent far too much time wrestling it into submission with a hair straightener, determined to make it fall smoothly down her back.
Then there was Peter O’Brien—her complete opposite in every way.
At twenty-seven, Peter was tall, broad, and built like an athlete. He stood at six feet five inches (6’5”) and weighed two hundred and ten pounds (210 lbs), towering over Leah both in height and presence. His physique was the result of years of disciplined training—not quite as bulky as a bodybuilder but nowhere near lean. He was the perfect balance of strength and definition. His body was a testament to his time as a high school and college football quarterback—American football, to be specific. Even now, he maintained a strict workout routine that left no room for excess weight or flab.
His mocha-colored eyes were sharp and calculating, often hidden behind glasses. Dark shades when outside on a sunny day, blue-light filtering ones when working on his computer. His face, diamond-shaped, was framed by neatly trimmed facial hair—always kept at a precise three centimeters, except for his goatee, which was slightly longer.
His dark brown hair, nearly black, was always styled in a neat crew cut. His lightly tanned complexion only added to his striking appearance.
Despite their differences, Leah and Peter’s paths were about to cross in a way neither of them expected. And once they did, neither of their lives would ever be the same.
